To maintain the appearance of your new upholstery we highly recommend a fabric protection treatment. This treatment will give you a lifetime warranty against most accidental spills and stains. For details see the fabric protection care booklet at David’s or ask your David’s sales person.
We suggest you vacuum your upholstery frequently. Reverse cushions to help distribute wear evenly, retain cushion shape, help prevent excess welt “travel” and maintain the tailored appearance. If covers become twisted, unzip and adjust fabric by hand.
Exposure to direct sunlight, even for a few hours a day, can cause fading. This can be avoided by placing your upholstered furniture out of direct sunlight.
Blot spills with a dry, clean white cloth. If the stain persists (after blotting) on an item, call the manufacturer or if it has fabric protection always call the 800 number on the fabric protection registration card, for recommendations on the correct cleaning procedure. Using methods to clean spills and stains that are not recommended by the fabric protection company or manufacturer may void your warranty.

Particular care should be taken when moving your mattress so that it is not bent or folded. If your mattress is double sided, for maximum life and comfort, turn your mattress end-over-end and side-to-side every other week for the first three months. After that, the rotation should occur each month. This rotation procedure is recommended by the manufacturer to help the mattress material adjust evenly and smoothly to your weight, equalizing and body impressions that may form. This will make the settling process more uniform. The newer single sided or “no flip” mattresses do not need to be rotated or flipped.
It is also a good idea to turn your foundation or boxspring(s) end-to-end once a year to assure even wear and that is fits the frame properly. Be sure your bed frame provides proper support for your bedding. A center support is mandatory on queen and king size beds. Failure to properly support your bed could void the manufacturer’s warranty.
Body impressions are normal for new mattresses, especially on pillow top models. When you see them, it means the body conforming coils and comfort-cushioning materials are beginning to work for you, providing support where you need it most. Most manufacturers do not consider a body impression a defect unless it exceeds four inches deep.

The beauty of genuine wood grain is enhanced when it is stained and finished. Since wood grains absorb these materials differently, there will be light and dark shades in every piece. This is a natural characteristic of wood.
All wood products are sensitive to chemicals. Avoid using glass cleaners or other harsh cleansers.
Protect and preserve your furniture with a polish containing natural ingredients. For furniture that gets normal use, lightly apply polish at least six times a year. Use a cloth that picks up dust particles rather than one that moves dust across the furniture causing hairline scratches. For minor nicks and scratches, repair the surface with touch up materials used by the manufacturer. Always use coasters and hot pads for wet glasses and hot dishes ad table pads for fine wood table tops. Never use a polish containing waxes or silicones. Wax artificially raises the sheen and builds-up on the surface attracting dust that can damage the surface. Silicones eventually work their way in to the finish, drying out wood and making it difficult to repair and refinish.
Avoid unnecessary water contact. Even a few drops of standing water can alter the surface or cause warping.
When storing table leaves, always lay them flat, preferably beneath a bed or somewhere safely out of the way. Warping can occur if they are stored on end. Keep wood items out of direct sunlight to avoid excess drying and premature aging.

If leather becomes soiled, and is semi-analine leather, wash with a soft cloth, mild soap and lukewarm water. Wipe clean with a slightly damp cloth then dry. Never clean a full analine leather. Simply blot up the spill and let dry naturally. Never use saddle soap, furniture polishes, oils or any other cleaning fluids. On a soiled item that has leather protection, call the 800 number on your warranty registration card for recommendations on the correct cleaning procedures.
